“ This small Central Victorian vineyard is really making people sit up and take notice as illustrated by this wine. Tim found very bright fruit on the nose with blueberry notes. Michael felt the alcohol was warm on the palate, but it worked as a ripe style of Shiraz. The nose was lifted with complex, herbal characters of ripe Viognier fruit, however was not over th top. The palate had good velvety tannin and fairly high alcohol and was in balance. The panel felt it was a good, balanced, integrated wine that was very drinkable. ”

“ Krystina and Dominic Morris work feverishly at making wine in France, Portugal and Baccus-knows-where between vintages at Bendigo, where all that knowledge seems to funnel into a concentrate under their Pondalowie brand. This cool-district blackberry Shiraz is lush enough; the addition of some Viognier makes it dangerously slippery, until you hit that Viognier tannin, which moves it up into a more adult rating. Risotto fungi would make it sing. 94 points ”

“ Exceptionally well made, rich as hell, warm dry red dancing with floral aromatics and boasting a long, tarred blackberried push of alcoholic flavour. The tannins are fine and affectionately dusty, with complexing nuances of dried, sugar reduced chocolate on the nose but nowhere else, and the acid is prominent. The colour is strenuously purple. “ The deep garnet 2002 Shiraz Viognier is a terrific example of letting the fruit do the talking. Vinified in 2 and 3-year old oak, the wine exhibits dense, complex aromas of earth, tar, spice and brightly defined blackberry fruit and just a hint of mint. The medium to full- bodied palate is assertive in its intensity, with ample levels of dark fruits framed by fresh acidity, chewy drying tannins and a long almost meaty savoury finish. Heaps of fun now for its youthful exuberance, this will age very well for the next 8-10 yrs. ”
