2003 ‘Special Release’ Shiraz

Jamie Goode, The Wine Anorak, February 2006

Really full, bold, intense spicy nose with amazing dark fruits, spice, chocolate and vanilla notes. Very forward. Massively concentrated rich, dense, spicy and tarry on the palate with lovely richness. A very forward style indeed. Very good/excellent 93/100

“Deep colour; luscious and opulent, yet not over extracted; a velvety array of plum, blackberry and spice has soaked up the oak.  Half a tonne to the acre. Drink 2020.”

Huon Hooke, Good Weekend The Age Magazine, 8 October  2005

“Pondalowie makes only red wines and quantities are small.  But every single ’03 is a ripper: …the Special Release Shiraz is almost painfully concentrated, which is terrific if you like massive, high-alcohol reds.  All are screw-capped for consistency and freedom from cork taint.”
