2005 Shiraz Viognier

James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2008 Edition

Rating 94/100 Typical deep colour; blackberry, spice, licorice and the autosuggestion of apricot; a potent wine, yet retains a soft mouthfeel thanks to fine tannins and almost invisible oak. Screwcap. DRINK 2025

It’s dense, it’s rich and powerful; and many are going to enjoy this red – holding its 14.5 per cent alcohol well and that’s because it’s balanced. Underneath is a wonderful fragrant nose, some blossom notes from the viognier that also softens the palate, delicately spiced, fantastic shiraz characters with good oak handling and an enticing creaminess alongside ripe, firm tannins.

This Bendigo blend is floral with mulberry, blackberry and allspice notes.  The palate is dense and luscious. The 5% viognier has been co-fermented with the shiraz. Match it with roast pork.

Dark purple. Intensely aromatic nose features lively blackberry, licorice, mineral and floral scents deepened by tobacco and espresso. Zesty dark berry flavors are bright, focused and pure, with no game or herbal qualities. Finishes silky-sweet, vibrant and long, with echoing dark berry flavors.
