2006 Vineyard Blend

James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2010 Edition

Rating 91/100

Deep colour; a rich and dense wine, packed with black fruits of all shapes and sizes, and just a tweak of spicy red fruit on the finish. Top value. Screwcap.  14.5% To 2015

The Adelaide Advertiser Magazine TOP 100 WINES, Nov 2008.

A blend of the traditional pairing of shiraz and cabernet with the rising star tempranillo bringing together dark berries on the nose, some simple cassis in and around a dash of oaky vanillin, then a mouth full of lovely black fruits, a sense of licorice, densely-packed and full-bodied for a big and powerful wine.”

Ralph Kyte Powell, Epicure Uncorked, The Age, 26 Aug 2008

A raw, inky young red from one of Bendigo’s most promising wineries.  Glass-staining colour leads to a powerful nose suggesting blackcurrant, briar, mint and sarsaparilla.  Oak has a minor role; potent fruit characters are the main game.  The middleweight palate has tons of robust flavour.

RATING:
(first class, a wine of distinction)
$$$(a wine with a price tag that makes it a steal)

Ageing: Better in 2 to 5 years. Food ideas: Chorizo sausages with potatoes; braised lamb with herbs.
