2012 Shiraz Viognier

James Halliday Australian Wine Companion – Tasted 19 Mar 2014

Rating 95/100

Shiraz from the estate old-clone vineyard was co-fermented with 5% viognier, then matured in French oak for 12 months. While little more than medium-bodied, the wine is opulently rich, with satsuma plum, blackberry and black cherry all in play, the complexity lifted by a pinch of spice and pepper; the tannins are, of course, soft, the all-up result a wine that can be enjoyed as much today as it will be in 10 years.

Screwcap. Alc: 14%. Drink by: 2025.
