Our Wines

USING MINIMAL INTERVENTION AND TRADITIONAL WINEMAKING TECHNIQUES, LEARNED DURING OUR MORE THAN 20 YEARS MAKING WINE IN FRANCE, PORTUGAL AND AUSTRALIA, WE CRAFT WINES WITH PERSONALITY AND GENEROSITY OF FLAVOUR – WINES THAT CAN BE ENJOYED AS MUCH TODAY AS THEY CAN BE IN 10 YEARS.

SPECIAL RELEASE

We introduced the ‘Special Release’ label into our range so that we could release as an individual wine any parcel of wine that really ‘stood out from the crowd’ during the winemaking process. This may not happen every year and it may not always be the same variety. We are extremely proud to present our Special Release wines as they represent the best of the season and are unique to each vintage year.

PONDALOWIE

Wines under the Pondalowie label generally represent those wines produced from our estate vineyards in Bendigo. By hand maintaining our own vineyards, we are able to achieve the specific wine styles, blends and premium quality we desired such that many wines such as the ‘Vineyard Blend’ and ‘Special Release’ wines are initiated while the grapes are still on the vine. Every parcel is hand selected in the vineyard and minimally handled in the winery, ensuring the wines sing of their variety, region and the season in which they were made.

Occasionally we make an exception and release wines produced using fruit sourced from our Heathcote growers under our Pondalowie label, such as the Pondalowie Reserve Heathcote Shiraz. When this occurs, the region of origin is clearly stated on the front label.

PINGA

The Pinga wine label was created to allow us to source small parcels of interesting grapes from premium independent grape growers in the Heathcote and Central Victorian wine regions.  The wines produced are modern and offer an interesting comparison of the varietal flavours achieved from different wine regions whilst displaying commonality in their winemaking style.

Pinga wines are ideally suited to drinking alongside Mediterranean, European or Iberian influenced foods.

The name, ‘Pinga’ is symbolic to Dominic and Krystina for its Portuguese connotation: Pinga means ‘drop’ in Portuguese and is commonly used when you are being invited to share a particularly special wine, ‘a boa pinga’ – a good drop. This is an experience Dominic and Krystina easily relate to, having made wine and interacting with grape-growers in the Douro valley region of Portugal for 17 years.
