2017 ‘Special Release’ Cabernet Malbec (was $55, now $30)

We are particularly fond of this wine as a showcase of the unique Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec grown in our Old Clone vineyard at Bridgewater.  

The 2017 vintage provided ideal growing conditions to retain Cabernet Sauvignon’s ethereal varietal characteristics, which when co-fermented with Malbec, produced a true ‘field-blend’ (76% Cabernet, 24% Malbec).  Matured under cellar conditions since bottling, this is an incredible opportunity to enjoy a perfectly aged wine, without the wait, or top up the cellar to enjoy over the next few years. 

Complex and elegant, with mellow mulberry, cassis and bramble fruits still evident. Bottle maturation lends roasted red capsicum and black liquorice, tobacco, gum-leaf, mocha, dried spice, and cedar, all supported by fine tannins and great length.  Drinking beautifully now, it still has many more years of cellaring potential.
